Confusing propagation, low bands POOR but improving with time. 10m much Berger in Sunday, 15m much worse in Sunday ?!?! 20m „died“ extremely fast in Sunday – I believe i have never experienced so fast end of propagation ever in my 40 years of contesting – signals were 59+ and after 3 minutes I was unable to be heard by people in East Coast at all ! We should have made more on 160+80, but….. We are happy with the rest. Small group this time and we all had fun ! Thanks for a QSO and see you in next contest !73 !

nakonec to znamenalo 2. místo v EU
Pod značkou klubu OK1KIM jsme měli zhruba : 1129 QSO ; 26 US ; 71 DXCC, což dalo asi 588 tisíc bodů celkem a na výzvu přišel i VK6LW – to potěšilo.

Planned as a social event – to meet after our C5A trip. When we were setting up the beverages in 25 cm of snow on „deep plowed“ fields in minus 10 deg C, I said we could have met in my house in Prague… than everyone present said more-less the same, summing it up that we are a Hopeless group of crazy ones?.
We had only „vanilla“ station – one TRX, no second RX…. Only one operator at a time. The propagation during the first night towards NA was BAD. We finished with only 33 states, and in the morning E7DX some 600 km to the south beat us by around 200 QSOs ! I do not know if it was bad operation, bad propagation, bad frequency exactly the same as KM3T from KC1XX wrote today. Second night was considerably better. The high-light was working exactly 100 JAs. The low point was that about every 2 minutes someone wants to steal your frequency.
Also I just wonder why there are still so many stations with clicks. You might have a station who is 59+50 dB 250 Hz from the frequency and no problem, you might have a station 59+20 and he is 2 kHz wide. Maybe now is a time to disqualify those rhinos, most of them with FT1000MPs. If we will be next time in CQ160 we will have 2 radios – that is for sure. We had a good time. Taking into account our setup we are most happy with the final score, we had no big ambitions in this one. Thanks for a call and see you in next contest.

What a competition in M/2 in Europe this year ! There are „EU grade“ 3 Big Guns in 9A -9A1A,9A1P,9A7A – all decided to go M/2. We knew about 9A1P and 9A7A but we thought that 9A1A is M/M as always, so we have not observed how are they doing. We were frustrated after the first night with our poor doing on 80m (compared to last year and 9A1P). Last year we had 3el.delta loop into NA, this year only vertical. The propagation on HF was superb, better than last year – but still far away
from what was real maximum 11 years ago – check the old results on 10 + 15m. LF was quite poor – as expected – far from last year. Murphy was nice to us in last few contests – he decided it is time for serious visit – I believe he was with us whole contest. It was probably not much audible from outside (OK we had a couple of pauses…) but my car is full tothe roof of the junk to FIX. NA was 45% compared to 39% last year. It says it all. We expected there is going to be much
less JAs but surprisingly there was about the same 313 to 321 QSOs from last year. China is still on the rise 98 QSOs compared to 64 from last year. The rise is steady 50% per year !
Overall we all had fun, we are most happy that we finished neck-neck with 9A1A „bandwagon“ – considering our average and multipliers – the difference is 12 QSOs ONLY !! Thanks for a QSO and hope to meet you in the next contest.
73 !

What to say, congrats to 9A1A for their easy win. The propagation was BAD. while changing the bands I was listening on 15m several times with my buddy CS2C – he was working NA normally and I heard just NOTHING. This could have been expected. I was also listening with 9A1A on the same band who is just around 450 km to the south but still I heard only about 50% of the stations worked. It would be probably similar to somebody another 500 km to the north. We had about 30 minutes black out – but in the reality that was not a big loss. Anyway we had fun and will see you all next time hopefully with lower K, A
numbers. 73 !

velmi špatné podmínky – aurora a každý km na jih byl znát – tedy až 3. v EU (za II9T a 9A1A) a 6. na světě.
